About Dynamic Public Library
Dynamic Public Library (DPL) Nepal, established on November 15, 2011, and officially registered on June 28, 2012, has been a cornerstone in providing essential resources and educational support to communities across various regions of Nepal for the past 12 years. Operating as a non-profit organization, DPL is headquartered in Damak and stands as one of the few public libraries in the region.
The library serves as a hub for free access to books, ideas, information, training, scholarships, and education, catering to the diverse needs of the local population. DPL's well-equipped library hall accommodates approximately 70 readers at a time, fostering an environment conducive to learning and research. Currently undergoing expansion, the organization aims to enhance its study space and broaden its impact on a wider scale.
DPL Nepal's reach extends across 15 chapters, spanning from Eastern Birtamode to Arghakhachi in the west. Annually, the library serves over 18 thousand patrons, embodying its commitment to providing a lifelong learning environment for individuals of all ages, from children to youth and adults.
In alignment with its mission, DPL offers e-library facilities in its study hall, enabling community members and youths to access a wealth of online resources not physically available in the library. Additionally, the organization addresses the digital divide by offering computer literacy programs, empowering those lacking computer skills or proficiency in internet usage under the guidance of dedicated volunteer professionals.
The collaborative efforts of the DPL National Team, distributed across the country, have enabled the execution of various public promotional tasks within the community. These tasks encompass youth capacity building, workshops on literature, poem recitation, training of trainers, public speaking, and proposal and report writing programs.
Beyond the confines of the library, DPL actively engages with the community through surveys on topics such as sanitary practices, tobacco usage, alcohol consumption, and smoking in public places. The library takes a proactive stance in resolving these issues by raising awareness through street programs and publishing survey reports in different newspapers.
Notably, DPL has a dedicated Teens/Child team that focuses on conducting programs tailored for children, further emphasizing the organization's commitment to holistic community development. As Dynamic Public Library Nepal continues to evolve and expand, it remains a vital educational and cultural resource for the people it serves.
